Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Account information you provide:

• Email address
• Username
• Profile photo (optional)
• Preferred sports
• City
• Skill level
• Preferred language

Activity data generated by using the app:

• Matches you create, join, or leave
• Scores you submit, confirm, or dispute
• Friendships and friend requests
• Match history and gamification stats (XP, points, wins, rank, hot streak, matches played)
• No-show reports

Device information:

• Push notification token (Expo Push Service, used only to deliver notifications about your matches; never shared with advertisers)
• App version, device type, and OS version (used only for debugging)

What we do NOT collect:

• We do not access your phone contacts.
• We do not collect precise location data unless you tap "Use my location" to find a nearby match. We do not track location in the background.
• We do not embed third-party advertising SDKs.
• We do not sell your data.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To match you with players and games near you
• To display public profile information (username, avatar, rank, public stats) to other players in matches and on leaderboards
• To send notifications about your own matches (squad updates, score submissions, results)
• To detect and prevent abuse (e.g., repeat no-show suspensions)
• To respond to your support requests

3. How We Share Your Information

We share data only with the service providers we need to operate the app:

• Supabase (backend database and authentication) — operated by Supabase Inc. Data is stored in the European Union (eu-west-1, Ireland).
• Expo Push Service — operated by Expo. Used only to deliver notifications about your matches. No content of notifications is retained by Expo beyond delivery.
• Apple App Store / Google Play — for distribution of the app.

We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not sell your data to any third party.

Other Matcheo users can see only the public-profile fields: username, avatar, rank, points, wins, XP, hot streak, matches played, coach flag. Email, phone number, push token, and account role are never visible to other users.

4. Your Rights

You can:

• Access your data: Profile tab in the app shows everything we hold about you.
• Correct your data: edit your username, avatar, sports, skill level, city, and language in the app.
• Delete your account and all associated data: Profile > Delete Account, or use https://matcheo.io/delete-account, or email support@matcheo.io. Deletion is permanent and happens the same day.
• Withdraw notification consent: turn off notifications in your OS settings.
• Object to processing or request a data export: email support@matcheo.io.

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the GDPR. If you are in the United Kingdom, you have rights under the UK GDPR. If you are in California, you have rights under the CCPA. To exercise any of these rights, email support@matcheo.io.

5. Data Retention

We keep your data only while your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data is removed within 24 hours. Anonymized aggregate statistics (e.g., total number of matches played in a region) may be retained for product analytics.

6. Children's Privacy

Matcheo is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, email support@matcheo.io and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS in transit, encrypted at rest via Supabase). Access to your profile data is restricted at the database level: only you can read your full profile. Other users see only the public-profile view.

8. Changes to This Policy

We will post any changes to this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated by in-app notice or email.
